Stop, junction ahead
The junction is aimed at easing the bottleneck that occurs on these roads during peak hours.

The traffic snarls are caused by the increasing number of vehicles on Jalan Cheras, Jalan Pudu and in the Pudu market area. The partial closure of the Loke Yew-Sungei Besi roundabout, causing traffic to flow only to the left towards Jalan Loke Yew from the KL-Seremban highway has further contributed to the congestion.

The project will see a dual-carriage and four-lane concrete overpass from Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Chan Sow Lin. The existing Pudu underpass at the junction of Jalan Pudu/Jalan Cheras will also be lengthened.

The project will include the upgrading of the traffic light system at the junction of Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Cheras and Jalan Chan Sow Lin.

A trader, who wished to be known only as Lim, said many people in the area were anxious about the impact of the project.

Another trader said the road closure would affect his earnings badly.

The approximately RM100 million project is expected to be completed in two years' time.
