Rosairil: New players a cause for worry

IN the Kelantan camp ahead of the Malaysia Cup campaign, what is good for the goose may not necessarily be good for the gander.

That is what goes through the mind of Rosairil Asrul Mohd Nor as he waits for new coach Hashim Mustapha to announce the squad line-up.

The 32-year-old right back said some players may have to make way for the arrival of new players.

"With the arrival of defender Nazrul Irwan Makmur from Felda United and midfielder Norhisham Hassan from T-Team, a bunch of us who have not been regularly featured in the first eleven have a genuine reason to worry.

"Furthermore, at least six players from the President's Cup squad have also been called up to join the first team and we all know that somebody just have to make way for the new arrivals," he said.

Rosairil, who previously plied his trade for Terengganu, said he had been working hard to prove that age is not a handicap when it comes to playing professional football.

"I am fit as a fiddle and it is no secret that I can outrun or outplay most of the younger players in the team."

Meanwhile, former Terengganu player Norhisham said he is settling well in Kota Baru and was looking forward to help Kelantan do well in the tournament.

However, team management committee chairman Azman Ibrahim said they may not drop anyone.

"It is not definite yet, mainly because all of the players have playing contracts up to November.

"We may sideline them for the whole duration of the Malaysia Cup but we still have to pay them and perhaps, they should play a role in the competition, however small it is," he said.
