City Hall stays clear of forest reserves
Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail: It surely is a paradox when for every step forward you also take one step backward. If you were a little more specific in your concern regarding the forests, I would be able to clarify better.

But your concern is that of the majority. At City Hall, our focus is always to move forward and without having to backtrack later. I assure you when it comes to conserving the forest, we are steadfast and clear about what needs to be done so that we are not put in a position where we have to compromise.

Kuala Lumpur has about 60ha of forest reserves. They are located in Sungai Besi, Bukit Nenas and Bukit Sungai Puteh. Given the status of the forests, no development approvals will be handed out.

What is perceived as great forests being felled for development is usually carried out on forested land which belong to private owners or other government agencies.

At City Hall, as mentioned, we value and treat the land with respect, let alone the forest -- the raison d'etre for us going green.
