A DISPUTE  over a wall in the SS18/1, Subang Jaya area has irked a resident, who urged for stern action from the local authorities.

The resident, William Dennis, who has been living in the area for nearly 30 years, said he has sent three letters of complaint to the Subang Jaya Municipal Council since he received his last reply from the local council on Jan 23.

He said he has no qualms about his neighbour wanting to build a wall, but when it comes to house extensions, there are guidelines set by the council that needed to be followed.

“I have been living here for the past 29 years and have not encountered such a situation. However, for past two to three years, my neighbour has been giving me a lot of headache. The wall she has constructed has damaged my side of the wall and this is unacceptable.

“After reporting it to the council, they sent a letter on Jan 23 instructing my neighbour to tear down the wall. However, until now, no action has been taken,” he said.

He hoped the authorities would take action and ensure the wall was torn down as soon as possible.

ACTIONLINE:

The Subang Jaya Municipal Council said it was aware of the problem and had sent feedback to William on Jan 23, saying they had ordered the neighbour to tear down the wall.

However, it seems to have fallen on deaf ears, according to a council spokesman.

“We thought that by now, William’s neighbour would have torn down the wall. Apparently, after receiving two more letters of complaint, we realised that his neighbour has not done anything yet.

“Usually, once a complaint has been filed, we will give them a seven-day grace period, but if no action is taken, the council will tear down the wall.

“In this case, we will be give another week for the neighbour to break down the wall and if the situation remains the same, we will send a report
on April 17 to see what the next course of action will be,” the spokesman said.
