Residents are unhappy about motorists parking their vehicles illegally on the pedestrian walkway along Jalan Perumahan Gurney, Kuala Lumpur.
“This is such a nuisance for us residents,” said Wan Esa Ali who lives nearby.
“I use this road every day and it really stresses me out that these selfish motorists are parking their vehicles on the walkway.
“It limits access for the disabled and elderly.”
Checks by Actionline found that most of the vehicles were parked illegally near a construction site by the side of the road.
A Kuala Lumpur City Hall spokesman said its enforcement unit would conduct an operation in the area soon.
“Our enforcement officers will visit the area, conduct checks and issue summonses to motorists who park their vehicles illegally. We will not hesitate to take action against the errant motorists,” he said.
The spokesman said the minimum fine for a parking violation was RM50 for motorcyclists, RM100 for cars and RM300 for heavy vehicles.
