The Shah Alam Lake Garden in Section 14 is an eyesore due to poor maintenance.

THE once cheerful atmosphere at Shah Alam Lake Garden in Section 14 has now become an eyesore as it suffers from neglect.

Resident Ismail Mat said he went to the park recently after his last visit 15 years ago.

“My friends informed me that the park was not as beautiful as before.

“Out of curiosity, I made a quick visit and found the park in poor condition. It was once a popular recreational spot for residents.

“The Shah Alam City Council (SACC) needs to add value to this place,” said Ismail.

ACTIONLINE:

A SACC spokesman said an action plan had been formulated to improve the facilities at Shah Alam Lake Garden.

“This includes adding colourful plants, upgrading the infrastructure for bridges, pedestrian lane, toilets, garden furniture as well as the lake garden’s information office,” she said.

She said the water quality of the lake would also be monitored.

She said residents could look forward to new landscape projects like the Japanese garden, orchid
garden and extreme-sport park.

“These projects are ongoing and will be opened in the near future to improve the quality of the park and image of the lake garden.”

She said the lake garden’s cleanliness would be taken seriously and the council had appointed contractors to maintain and clean it daily.
