THERE is an old Chinese proverb that says “Feng Shui cycle takes its turn regularly”.

What this means is that the Feng Shui effect is cyclical.

Traditionally, the Chinese believes that everything in this universe changes and nothing can last eternally.

Similarly, in the Feng Shui aspect, each cycle provides a validity of 20-year effects. A particular place might have boomed in its socio-economy, culture and even politics in the past but after the effective Feng Shui cycle, its glory could have subsided.

The current Feng Shui cycle, namely the Feng Shui Period 8th, started in 2004 and will complete by early 2024.

“During this cycle, the more auspicious locations or sectors are the Northeast and Southwest. Earth-related sectors, including property, have been booming worldwide, especially from 2005 onwards.

“We have seen a lot of townships and property projects booming during this cycle. In Malaysia alone, apart from Klang Valley and Penang, we have seen a lot of new launches in other states centred around the bigger cities,” said Feng Shui Master Kenny Hoo.

Hoo said as we gradually moved into the second-half of the Feng Shui Period 8th, the effects of Feng Shui Period 9th had started trickling in.

In the Period 9th cycle, the more prominent sectors or directions were the South and North, he said.

“Since 2012, there have been more new property or township development projects being introduced to the marketplace, for instance, in the northern and southern regions of Kuala Lumpur, such as Rawang, Ipoh, Butterworth, Seremban, Semenyih, Malacca and Johor Baru.

“These places used to be quiet. However in recent years, there are various residential and commercial projects launched in anticipation of demand.

“The prices of properties there have also been on the rise. This reflects the influence of Feng Shui Period 8th,” he told NST Property.

Hoo said during the Feng Shui Period 9th from 2024 to 2043, the south and north sectors will be more prominent and provide positive qi for the housing market.

“We will see more new property development projects coming up in the south region. At this stage, while the property market is rather soft, actually this situation creates a very good opportunity to allow one to have more choices in the discovery of good Feng Shui properties that will provide greater appreciation values in the near future,” said Hoo.
