KUCHING: Yet another police report has been lodged against six policemen who were recently arrested for allegedly extorting money from two lottery peddlers.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the third report against the suspects was lodged at a police station here yesterday.
Dev did not disclose details of the reports, only saying that investigation into the case is ongoing.
The suspects’ remand order expires tomorrow. Dev said police will apply for a three-day extension to the remand to further facilitate their probe.
The suspects had allegedly demanded RM10,000 from two lottery peddlers here and in Sematan. However, the peddlers only paid the cops RM2,000 and RM500, respectively.
The rogue cops, aged between 25 and 53, were arrested following two reports lodged against them for extortion. They were picked up in Kuching, Padawan and Lundu.
The case is being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.
