KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 314 cases of sexual misconduct against children have been resolved from June 2017 until February this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, said this was the number derived from a total of 382 cases registered since the Special Criminal Court on Sexual Crimes Against Children was established.
"The timeline set to solve cases of sexual offences against children is 12 months.
"Based on statistics, the number of cases resolved from June 2017 to February 2018 was 314 cases.
"The number of cases pending as of February this year is 68 cases. This amount indicates that the cases have been resolved efficiently in a short period of less than a year, " she said.
She was responding to a question from Datuk Seri Hasan Malek (BN-Kuala Pilah) at the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
