ALOR STAR: A 44-year-old man who allegedly killed an elderly woman during a robbery at her home in Taman Malaysia, Pumpong, Alor Star, on Feb 25 has been remanded for a week from today.

The suspect will be remanded until March 19 to assist in investigations.

The suspect, who earlier confessed to killing Kau Fu Eng, 71, who was strangled during a struggle, was arrested in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 28 following another house break-in at Golf Park, Alor Star.

Yesterday, NSTP reported that Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim, said tht investigations had revealed that the suspect acted violently when he realised the victim was at home when he was committing the crime.

According to him, following the arrest of the suspect, police recovered the stolen goods and further investigations found that the suspect had 17 previous criminal records involving drugs and break-ins.

Kau's body was discovered by her daughter at 5.45pm on Feb 25 when she returned home after ending the victim’s grandchildren for tuition.
