BENTONG: A driver of a multi-purpose vehicle lost both his mother and teenage daughter when the Mitsubishi Grandis they were in crashed into a stone wall at Km41 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway here today.
In the 12pm incident, Ahmad Zaim Mokhtar, 54, lost control of the vehicle, which veered to the left side of the road before crashing into the wall.
Victims Minah Hassan, 82, and Nabilah Qistina, 14, were killed on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries.
Pahang Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department deputy chief Deputy Superintendent Semari Sumar said the victims were on their way home to Chendering in Terengganu.
He also said two other family members were in the vehicle.
“Initial investigations found that the driver lost control of the vehicle when negotiating a slippery road bend.
“(The driver’s) mother and daughter died at the scene while the driver, his wife and his other daughter were injured,” he said today.
He said that the survivors were currently warded at Bentong Hospital.
Semari added that the police recorded the driver's statement to facilitate investigations under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
