KOTA BARU: A teenager was saved from being impaled with a samurai sword, thanks to his waist pouch, in an incident in Tendong, Pasir Mas at 4am last Sunday.
Muhammad Badriman Adnan, 18, however, sustained numerous injuries, including a broken left hand, cuts on his back and head wounds, which required 18 stitches to the head.
His iPhone, which was kept in his waist pouch, was reportedly cut in two, while he lost RM600 cash to his attackers, who ran off with the pouch.
Badriman’s uncle, Mohd Azlan Mat Nor, 45, said his son and Badriman were on their way back from a restaurant and had decided to stop by friend’s house in Kutan, Tumpat just before the incident.
Badriman, he said, had met up with a friend and gone to a nearby convenience store to buy a reload card for his phone.
“However, as he exited the store and made his way to his motorcycle, two vechicles pulled up. Eight men got out and thrashed his motorcycle while one attacked him with a samurai sword,” said Azlan when met at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, today.
Azlan said he was made to understand that the locals were displeased with Badriman, as his motorcycle, a Kawasaki Z250, made a din.
“I acknowledge that he was in the wrong, but thet should not have attacked him that way and made off with his money,” he said.
Badriman is still being warded at the hospital for his injuries.
