PUTRAJAYA: Beleaguered Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) gave its statement here to the Registrar of Societies that is probing complaints about the party failing to comply its own constitution.

PPBM secretary-general Datuk Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh, who represented the party at the RoS headquarters here, gave his statement in connection with the complaints lodged by members of several divisions in Johor.

"I have fully cooperated with the investigating officer and at the same time, presented all necessary documents and evidence needed by the department.

"All the questions asked were pertaining the constitution and I have answered and explained the decision taken by us based on PPBM's constitution," he said when met outside the RoS building here where he spent three hours to give his statement.

Shahruddin also said that he is ready to be called in for questioning again if needed.

"But for now, I hope everybody remain clam on the matter as it is under investigation," he added.

Members of PPBM divisions in Bakri, Kluang, Sembrong, Ayer Hitam, Simpang Renggam, Ledang, Batu Pahat and the youth wing members in Sembrong had lodged reports with the RoS on Nov 1 to complain about the party’s alleged failure to hold the AGMs.

On Nov 6, a Negeri Sembilan PPBM branch also lodged a report with RoS on the failure of the party’s top leadership to adhere to the constitution.

Recently RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim said PPBM is facing a possibility of de-registration if it fails to resolve issues concerning a proposed amendment to the party’s constitution, and its failure to hold annual general meetings (AGM) at the division, branch and central-levels.
