KUALA LUMPUR: As the curtain comes down on the 71st Umno Annual General Assembly, Prime Minister and party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak was greeted by a blue and gold macaw and a white cockatoo.
The loveable and playful birds were brought to the Putra World Trade Centre by animal activist Mohd Irfan Syzani Sunny.
Irfan, who was there with a fellow activist, had set out to collect the signatures of top Umno leaders to promote the love for animals.
Earlier on, Irfan and his friend obtained the signature of Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and also Abdul Rani Kulup, the colourful Umno supporter who is famous for his taglines ‘kipidap dongibab’ (keep it up, don't give up).
The duo from G2G Animal Garden, an animal petting zoo in Serdang, were not to be disappointed as they greeted Najib with the birds perched on their shoulders.
Najib, who was walking out after delivering his closing speech at Dewan Merdeka, was happy to oblige and put his signature to a plaque.
In speaking to NST, Irfan said many animal lovers know and savour that happy moment when a pet dog or cat runs up to greet them at the end of the day.
“The stresses of work and human interaction are melted away.
“Unfortunately, not many people can afford to keep a pet.
“G2G Animal Garden serves as an affordable petting zoo for people to interact with different kinds of animals first hand.” he said.
