PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has admitted that he signed the approval letter for the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC)in 2006.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president, however, said he could not remember whether he received updates on the project after that.
“I cannot remember...it’s been too long.”
Muhyiddin said this when he was asked about the matter outside the PPBM headquarters yesterday.
He was the Agriculture Minister when the approval letter was signed.
Muhyiddin said even though he signed the document, allocations for NFC were not channelled through his ministry.
On Tuesday, Special Affairs Department (JASA), Director-General Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi was quoted as saying that Muhyiddin cannot remain silent on the NFC issue as he was the minister then and should be in the know of the whole issue.
He said Muhyiddin was evasive in clarifying the issue to avoid embarassing the opposition parties of which he is now part of.
Puad also challenged DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang to urge Muhyiddin to clarify the issue, which he had demanded in the past when he called the then minister to face the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee to explain the issue.
