ARAU: The Perlis Menteri Besar crisis is expected to be resolved soon, after 10 Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen were called for an audience with Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail at Istana Arau, this afternoon.
The 10 assemblymen who won the state seats in the 14th General Election (GE14) arrived at Istana Arau about 2.15pm.
They were seen at Arau Royal Gallery before entering Istana Arau to have an audience with Raja Perlis at 3.30pm.
Perlis BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Azlan Man who is also the Menteri Besar for past term and Datuk Ismail Kassim, candidate for the post are among the 10 to have the audience, with state ruler.
It is leant that the assemblymen were given half an hour for each of their session to allow Raja Perlis to acquaint himself with the elected representatives .
Besides Azlan and Ismail, the other eight assemblymen are Tee Chai Aan, Rozaini Rais, Siti Berenee Yahya, Azizan Sulaiman, Asmaiza Ahmad, Roziena Ahmad, Nurulhisham Yaakob and Hamizan Hassan.
NSTP had reported on possible crisis in the appointment of the Menteri Besar for Perlis, despite BN winning 10 out of 15 state seats in GE14.
It started when Perlis BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim announced that BN has agreed to name Tambun Tulang assemblyman, Ismail, who is also his brother, as candidate for the post of Menteri Besar.
However, Azlan Man, claimed to be in the dark over the decision.
Raja Perlis on Sunday said that he needs more time to know the Menteri Besar candidate and other elected representatives as chosen by the state BN.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin urged the people of Perlis to remain calm since he needed more time to acquaint himself with the names submitted by state BN and assured that he will not stray from the constitution and law.
