PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria was officially presented as president of the BA of Malaysia (BAM) for the term 2017-2021 today, following the national body's 72nd annual general meeting (AGM) here at the Grand Dorsett Hotel.

Norza, who previously held the deputy president's post, took over from former president, Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Ariff, who chose not to stand for another term.

The consensus of the council members also allowed BAM to maintain their 32-year tradition of having no contest for the top post.

Norza also announced that he will officially step down as chairman of the National Sports Institute (NSI) and president of the Kuala Lumpur BA to focus on BAM fully.

The council also unanimously elected Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Hussein (Sarawak BA) and Datuk Lim Teong Keat as the new deputy presidents.

Datuk Ng Chin Chai also retained his position as the honorary secretary for another term.

Former deputy president Tan Sri Mohamed Al Amin Abd Majid was made advisor of BAM, while former president Tengku Mahaleel is now the honorary president.
