KUALA LUMPUR: Professional badminton player Zulfadli Zulkifli shouldn’t give excuses for not attending national training when given the chance to represent Malaysia.
This is the view of 2003 All England champion Muhamad Hafiz Hashim on independent player Zulfadli’s training issue.
Though Zulfadli has been invited by BAM to represent Malaysia in the Asian Team Championship in Alor Star in February, he hasn’t shown his readiness to join national training.
He said Zulfadli should show his commitment if he is serious about the Asian meet, which also serves as a Thomas Cup qualifier.
"Zulfadli should use this opportunity to prove he's worthy of representing the country.
“I am not sure what's stopping him but if I were in his position, I wouldn't have any problems joining the national team for training.
“He can't just say he wants to represent Malaysia but still trains overseas. While he was overseas, he still failed to deliver results.”
Lee Chong Wei said on Saturday that Zulfadli should join national training if he wishes to represent Malaysia.
