KUALA LUMPUR: The BA of Malaysia (BAM) have claimed that they have yet to receive doubles shuttler Azriyn Ayub’s appeal letter to play in bigger tournaments.

Azriyn, a professional player, wants BAM’s endorsement to compete in GP Gold, Super Series and Premier tournaments. Currently, he is only allowed to play in International Challenge and Series events.

BAM general manager Michelle Chai said the national body will only consider Azriyn’s case if he writes in.

Azriyn will start his 2018 season with Arif Latif next month.

“Azriyn needs to write in before his case can be deliberated by our coaching and technical committee,” said Michelle in Bukit Kiara on Friday.

“As for now, BAM only allows those with the national team to play in Level Four and Five tournaments (GP Gold, Super Series and Premier Series).”

Azriyn wants to play in bigger tournaments in order to achieve his target of breaking into the world’s top 35 and also qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
