KUALA LUMPUR: The Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah is utterly disappointed with the actions of certain FA of Selangor (FAS) committee members after they tried to cause chaos within the association.
He is displeased by their actions in bringing up irrelevant or trivial issues and pushing for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) with the claim to reorganize the entire exco who were only appointed in July.
Tengku Amir labelled their actions as a blatant move to seize power just so that they can safeguard their positions within the association.
“I do not at all agree with the call for the EGM. I do not understand why any form of reorganisation is even needed when work has only just begun, furthermore when the reasons given are weak,” he said today.
“However, I do not blame the committee members because I believe that they are being manipulated, deceived and perhaps even threatened by certain individuals to sign the memorandum.
“These individuals are wolves in sheep’s clothing, driven by personal agendas and not at all interested in working collectively to develop FAS,” added Tengku Amir who was appointed as FAS president, replacing Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal who relinquished his presidency in July.
Tengku Amir also expressed his disappointment with the behaviour of the committee members who like to manipulate FAS’ statutes to bring down certain people even though the association’s leadership has done no wrong.
“When I issued a statement on June 5, after receiving the nomination for the association’s presidency, I clearly stated that an overall change must be carried out.
“However there are certain irresponsible individuals who have seized the opportunity to make use of FAS’ statutes to further protect themselves.
“For example, the excuse used to call for the EGM does not make any sense, but it still can go on and this is baffling.
“I am very disappointed because at this time we are all supposed to be planning and preparing for next season, including engaging sponsors to strengthen the association’s coffers and financial position.
“Instead, such irresponsible actions by certain individuals is adversely affecting those who are honest and sincere and work hard for FAS.
“I am also displeased that there are exco members who openly support the move for the EGM, even though it is not the stand of the majority of the exco including myself,” Tengku Amir lamented.
NSTP Sport reported last week that several FAS’ committee members, led by Frenz United football club president Roslin Shariff, have been pushing for the EGM.
They claimed that the rights and importance of the committee members have been sidelined, including the dismissal of 55 individuals and representatives from clubs that are part of FAS’ standing committee without valid reasons.
In fact, Roslin also claimed that the appointment of the two vice presidents, Izhar Moslim and Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, are invalid though this is disputed by deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar who confirmed that the appointments are valid and in accordance with FAS’ statutes.
