KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin was satisfied with the progress and preparations at the Titiwangsa Stadium which will be the venue for sepak takraw during the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.
Except for the flooring on the competition courts which will be fixed by next week, all other preparations are progressing well.
“As for the basic necessities, the stadium is ready and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has already refurbished the stadium. Some furnishing is needed to ensure the venue is in top condition,” he told reporters after visiting the venue, here today.
Meanwhile, sepak takraw head coach Abdul Talib Ahmad said players selected for the SEA games were in the final phase of training and preparations.
“During the final phase of training, our focus will be on mental strength and tactical. The players know that it will be a heavy responsibility and to win the gold medal will be a tall order but our focus will be on winning the gold medal,” he said.
In the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, Malaysian won a gold medal in the inter-regu.-- BERNAMA
